The Month of July has come in
with many surprises as since it’s inception the streets of Lagos has experience
a heavy down pour.
It’s being reported that areas
such as Lekki, Ajah, Victoria Island and many others are currently flooded as
the past three days in Lagos has been accompanied by a non-stop rain.
The rain on Friday as well as the
one experienced on Saturday morning has kept many indoors as their homes and
environs have been flooded with rain. This also has affected normal flow of
business and other activities in areas such as
the Island as many roads are
flooded and as such people cannot go through them.
Many, who reside in Lagos have
filled the social media with photos as well as videos of the flood as they
await the government to help solve the issue. This has made Lagos as well as
Lekki to be top on the trending list on twitter.
The state government have in
their official Facebook page called on lagosians residing in these areas to remain
indoors and calm as measures are being taken to solve the problem assuring them
that environmental sanitation officers and emergency rescue teams, are being
deployed to tackle the menace.
The government also warned that the downpour is
expected for a few more weeks and urged that lagosians desist from dumping
refuse in canals and gutters as these increases the chances of flood. They also
pleaded with the citizens to make use of the emergency numbers in serious cases
