The senate has pass a bill which
suggests that Nigerian youths can run for President and Governors. This has
gone a long way in putting smiles on the faces of many Nigerian youths as they
celebrated the move irrespective of the fact that the bill still needs to be
endorsed by the 24 State Assembly and Presidential Assent in order for it to be
effective.
The bill was passed on Wednesday and
it seeks to reduce the age for running for the President from 40 to
35 years,
also from 35 to 30 for Governors, from 30 to 25 for both House of
Representatives and House of Assembly.
Indeed this has gone a long way
in backing the recent movement by Nigerian youth tagged ‘not too young to run’
which pleaded that the youths be given a platform to rule too in the nation.
