The Trigana missing Air plane that went missing today, Sunday the 16th of August has been found says Indonesia's Director General of Air Transportation during a news conference. Wreckage from the plane was discovered in Oktabe district of Papua province says Suprasetyo the DG of Air Transportation while villagers were reported to have seen the plane carrying 54 passengers and crew crash into a mountain.
It is however reported that the search and rescue team who suspended their search until Monday due to bad weather will conduct aerial and ground search to confirm the villagers' story.
The flight which departed from Sentani Airport in Jayapura at 2:22pm and was planned to land in Oksibil at about 3:16pm lost contact at about 2:55pm says J.A. Barata, Transportation Ministry spokesman to CNN Indonesia.
This is reportedly to be at least the third aircraft from Trigana Air Service plane to go missing in Asia in 18 months. It is also one of a large number of airlines banned from operating in European Airspace for reasons of them being unsafe and not adequately overseen by authorities
