News of the arrest of the former Head of Service of the Federation, Mr. Steve Oronsaye by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) is false. It was
reliably gathered that the former HOS on Wednesday, simply honoured an invitation extended by the commission . Oronsanya left the anti grafts agency’s office after he had provided information on an alleged petition to the commission. He was not detained by EFCC as alledged in various quarters.
Spokesperson for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that Mr. Oronsaye was at
the anti-graft agency. Mr. Oronsanye who was appointed Head of the Civil Service of the Federation by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in June 2009, retired in November 16, 2010. Since then he has continued to serve the country in various positions. For over 10 years now, he is the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Financial Action Task Force [FATF] and was board member of both the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation [NNPC] and the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN].
