Shoppers at the newly opened mall described it as the city’s shopping nucleus.
Some of the shoppers said the mall would place the FCT on a better pedestal among modern cities of the world.
Residents of the territory turned out en masse to grace the occasion, causing traffic congestion on the usually free Bala Sokoto Road. Some of the residents said the new shopping mall signaled a new chapter in the city’s business sector.
Several organisations and brands took the opportunity to give out items ranging from drinks, beverages etc to shoppers.
“I just bought a gas cooker at N19, 000. Before now, this would go for about N25, 000. Things are very cheap because today is the opening day. That is why this place is crowded,” Mrs. Olukoya Temitope said.
Another shopper, Ifeanyi Osakunih said that given its location beside the Jabi Lake, the mall would attract more customers, especially when it becomes fully operational.
There was a mammoth crowd at the mall when City News visited, though only Shoprite, Game, pharmacies and few of the shopping outlets were already opened for business.
