Reigning Miss Zimbabwe has been stripped of her title after nude photos of her were leaked, on Whatsap. Emily Kachote, 25, was deposed of her crown following accusations of immoral behaviour. An official statement was released to that effect confirming the development.
"The Miss Zimbabwe executive board would like to inform the nation that it has decided to dethrone Miss Emily Kachote as Miss World Zimbabwe 2015," the statement said.
"Being in a relationship, sexual advances to anyone and any behaviour categorised as immoral by the Miss Zimbabwe Trust is grounds for instant disqualification and dethronement," the statement added.
Kachote, a financial advisor, had admitted the pictures, apparently leaked by an ex, were genuine. She said she'd hoped the man had deleted the pictures.
The statement referred to a recent tabloid report which said nude pictures of Kachote had appeared on the phone messaging service WhatsApp.
"Winners of the Miss World Zimbabwe beauty pageant whether a title holder or runner-up must not have posed nude professionally or socially in all forms of media," the organizers said.
Kachote, a psychology graduate, was crowned Miss World Zimbabwe in April, beating 15 other models. The organizers of the contest said Kachote's pictures were leaked shortly after she confessed that she has once posed nude. Her predecessor Thabiso Phiri was stripped of her crown after a similar scandal last year.
The board said Kachote will be replaced by runner-up Grace Mutambu, who will represent Zimbabwe at the Miss World pageant in Sanya, China in December.
