The Federal Government, through the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has appointed Eco Alliance Nigeria Limited as a Strategic Partner for the Sourcing of Funds and Construction of Unity Centres in the 36 States of the Federation and Abuja to celebrate Nigeria's Centenary in January 2014
The Unity Centres/ Square will be built at a Strategic Location in each State Capital. Sponsors and Partners are to take advantage of the space to advertise their products and services. Each state in Nigeria is advised to build one and to be commissioned by the Federal Government in the spirit of the Nigerian Centenary Celebration.
As preparation for Nigeria’s Centenary Celebration intensifies and as part of lined up projects which include the construction of these Unity Centers and/or Squares in the thirty-six States and Abuja, the Federal Government has also given the private sector the opportunity to identify with its dreams by inviting them to take over the Centenary Project, therefore urging sponsors and potential partners in the private sector in Nigeria to take up the challenge. Since most of the projects outlined by the federal government are enduring ones, the private sector in Nigeria will be making itself a Strategic Partner. This will be anchored on three main pillars:
- Enduring Legacy Projects
- The Commemorative Events
- The History and Heritage Programme
As part of the Enduring Legacy Project, The Unity Centre/ Squares will be built to stand the test of time and as a monumental figure for generations unborn to see and identify with the celebration in years to come and comprehend the United Nation that we stand together to build today.
As part of the commemorative Event, a rally will be held simultaneously in every state on the 1st of January 2014 at these Unity Squares/ Centres to be aired nationwide and internationally to mark the official commissioning and grand finale of the Centenary Celebration.
The history and heritage programme will also consist of an essay competition, which will give people the opportunity to write about the monument and how it relates to Nigerian history vis a vis the amalgamation.
Each state in Nigeria is encouraged to build a Unity Centre and/or Square in its capital or designate an existing public area for that purpose and to be unveiled during the proposed nationwide unity rallies. The celebrations are expected to be in full gear from January 2014 as several events and occasions will be anchored in the Unity Centres/ Squares Nationwide.
