Inspirational Tab: A GOOD NAME - Temi Odejide

A GOOD NAME is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold. – Proverbs 22:1

A name is not just a means of identification & differentiation but it also points to our ancestry, our lineage: where we are coming from. In asking for your surname, I am asking for your ancestry.

There are doors that only a good name can open; not even riches can force them open. There are places that you simply cannot access without the right name.

As a parent one thing that you must strive to bequeath to your children (EVEN IF you fail to give them silver or gold) is to GIVE THEM A GOOD NAME. There are places a good name will take them that silver & gold will not (best to give them both).

Knowing the value of a good name, often when sending our children off to college with charge them not to 'spoil' our name. Our concern is the fact that the child might not know the value of the name, having not had to do anything to earn it: he was just born into it.

Peter & John said 'silver & gold we have not but what we have we give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk'.

Like a child born into a good home we have been given a name.
We did not earn it. We did not buy it. We did not lobby for it.
We were simply born into it when we accepted Jesus.
Now at that name, every knee must bow and every tongue confess.
That name is above every other name. Through that name you & I have access to stupendous help & assistance.

You must learn to value & use the awesome name of Jesus that you have been given.
IT IS A GOOD NAME.
What door have you been trying to access? Maybe you have been using the wrong name. Today, thank God for the good name of Jesus & use it in faith!
